Ecommerce is no longer a new industry. The best practices for ecommerce have emerged over the years, and the online selling business model has matured.

Entrepreneurs know just how to drive visitors to their website and how to persuade them to buy good. Dozens of payment options are available to people who want to do online shopping. Every little element on an ecommerce website is created after researching customer behavior, and the top-notch ecommerce stores try to get everything right.

But, that doesn’t mean that innovation and growth has stopped in the ecommerce development. Every year, we see new ideas sweep across the world of online selling. What new trends will we see in 2014? Looking at the current developments in ecommerce, we can make an educated guess. Here are ten trends that we think will dominate ecommerce web development in 2014.

1. Big Data
Nowadays many companies are frustrated about not having expected of Big Data. Using large data sets, it is possible for medium and large ecommerce stores to predict future trends in the market. Proper analysis of big data makes it possible for business to take data-driven decisions. In 2014, we will see more and more businesses using data sets to offer personalized and more effective offers to their customers.

2. Ecommerce Content will Mature
To get best user experience, it is necessary to create high quality and SEO-friendly ecommerce site. Building long relationship with customers with exclusive content helps increase the profit volume ratio. 2014 will the year of quality content, images and video, and the end of duplicate product descriptions.

3. Same day Shipping
To thrive in competitive market, many distributors offer same day quick delivery to earn customers trust. In 2014, we will see more and more online stores offering the same-day delivery. This trend will present a good opportunity of success to local ecommerce stores.

4. Real Shopping Assistance
Customers need some suggestions and opinion before they buy something. While this is easily done in brick-and-mortar concerns, ecommerce stores simply cannot hire enough personnel for the job. But now more and more online stores provide 24 hours chat assistance to give instance response and guidance to customers. This service will be provided only by high-end stores, but it will raise the quality of online shopping experience.

5. Personalization and Customization
Online stores have been trying since long to provide a personalized experience to customers since the beginning. We already have a handful of stores that allow the customers to modify and design products. Also, many stores are using customer data to provide personalized product suggestions and offers. We can expect to see a larger number of stores offering personalization and customization.

6. Widening Product Range
Currently, ecommerce stores sell items that don’t perish quickly. Clothes, electronic goods, books, jewelry, handicrafts, decorations, etc. are the most popular items sold online. But, as the shipping speed and response time of ecommerce websites increase, we will see them selling other items like fruits, medicines, and grocery products. It will become possible for people to do all their shopping online.

7. Complete Device Support
A large number of queries from customers begin on smartphones. Many people use mobiles to research products online before buying them through PCs or in physical stores. Quite a few people visit online stores and buy products right through their smartphones or tablets. As a consequence, all the ecommerce stores need to be accessible through a wide range of mobile devices. We saw the rise of response web design this year, and in 2014 most ecommerce stores will support all kinds of mobile devices.

These are a few of the trends that will drive the growth of ecommerce in 2014. We have also seen the rise of mobile POS devices this year, but are unsure of whether the trend will become widespread within a year. But one this is certain – the number of online stores will increase, and they will provide better services and features to their shopper.

What’s your take on this? Which trends do you feel are on the verge of expanding? Please do let us know in the comments!

Totally agree with Jacob, marketing mix is properly one of the most secure ways to attach customers in the modern day society. I used to work as a marketing administrator at http://www.daarbak.dk/ and it benefited us a lot.
